As part of our activities to commemorate the 2021 world cancer day, we organized a Scientific presentation/Award presentation in Imo state on the 4th of February, 2021.
At the scientific presentation, the guest speaker, Dr. Ikechukwu chukwuocha started off with the topic: Rising cancer burden in Nigeria, after his presentation, floor was opened for questions.
The second guest speaker Runcie chidiebere lectured on “We are all Cancer Patients: let’s all Advocate” virtually through zoom meeting.
Gala/Award Event
The Imo State Commissioner of Health, Dr. (Mrs.) Damaris Osunkwo was called upon to present the awards to the awardees.
Awardees
- Her Excellency, Chief (Mrs.) Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu was awarded WAWUC AMAZON for her efforts in the fight against cancer in Ondo State and Nigeria at large.
- Brig Gen. A. Ukpo (Rtd) was awarded WAWUC WARRIOR for his efforts in the fight against cancer in Cross river state and Nigeria at large.
- Rev. Sis. A. Anele (Dr.) was awarded WAWUC AMAZON for her efforts in the fight against cancer in Federal Medical Centre Owerri, Imo state and Nigeria at large.
- Prof Ifeoma Okoye was awarded WAWUC AMAZON for her efforts in the fight against cancer in Enugu state and Nigeria at large.
- David Emenuko Foundation was awarded WAWAUC AMAZON for her efforts in the fight against cancer in Cross river state and Nigeria at large.
- Alvana Model Secondary School was awarded WAWUC STAR and a cash prize of Twenty thousand naira for winning Walk With Us Cancer Foundation annual quiz competition.
- Federal Government Girls College Owerri was given a cash prize of Fifteen thousand naira for emerging as the 1st runner up in the Walk With Us Cancer Foundation annual quiz competition.
- Government Secondary School Owerri was given a cash prize of ten thousand naira for emerging as the 2nd runner up in the Walk With Us Cancer Foundation annual quiz competition.
