THIS mantra spurred the WAWUC organization to organize quiz competitions amongst senior secondary school students in the state.As cancer is not age, gender or class biased. Creating awareness amongst students through this competition will help have a wider reach and also close the care-gap knowledge while encouraging the students to talk about these health–related issues amongst peers and family members.
The goal of organizing the quiz competition is to educate and disseminate information on all health issues including misinformation with emphasis on cancer, its causation, prevention activities and practical steps to have a healthy lifestyle amongst students in Imo state, which would help them support themselves and their loved ones. The quiz competition questions are based on Mathematics, English Language, Biology and Health sciences (Cancer-based).
This quiz competition is usuallyorganized in three levels:
Local government level
Zonal level
State level
The grand finale of the 2023 WAWUCAnnual State-Wide Quiz Competition was held on the 16th of March 2023 at Government Secondary School, Owerri. Three schools emerged as winners.
These schools are;
Mountain Crest High School Owerri- First position.
Holy Rosary International College Owerri -Second position.
Crest Foundation International School Mgbidi- Third position.
On this day, all participants went home with exercise books and school bags.
